Description

The Jewish Quarters Route (PR-CC 10) is a hiking trail that links the Jerte Valley with the Ambroz Valley by following historic mountain paths used since the Middle Ages. The route, about 14 km long, begins in Cabezuela del Valle and continues through mountain landscapes until reaching the village of Gargantilla. Along the way the trail climbs toward the Puerto de Honduras mountain pass, crossing forests, streams and traditional mule tracks. The route recalls the historical coexistence of Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities in the region while offering wide views of the surrounding natural landscape.

General observations

Sendero PR-CC 10 señalizado con amarillo y blanco, que coincide en su primera subida por Los Callejones con el SL-CC 22 y en su totalidad con el GR-10. Une Cabezuela del Valle (orilla del Río Jerte) con Gargantilla, cruzando el Puerto de Honduras (1.433 m alt.), joya ornitológica y botánica por sus abedules. Desnivel de subida de 1.038 m. Rememora el antiguo camino arriero de convivencia judía, árabe y cristiana entre el Valle del Jerte y el Valle del Ambroz.
