The Carlos V Route (PR-CC 1) is a historic trail that follows the journey made by Emperor Charles V in 1556 on his way to the Monastery of Yuste. With a linear route of about 27.7 km, it links Tornavacas with Jarandilla de la Vera, crossing mountain landscapes, chestnut and oak woods, and various bridges and mountain passes. The route passes through the Garganta de los Infiernos Nature Reserve and combines historical, cultural, and natural values. It is a demanding route, highly valued by hikers and history enthusiasts.
