Description

The Santiago León Cave Route (SL-CC 13) is a linear trail that starts in Tornavacas and climbs through the mountain surroundings of the Jerte Valley to the Tejadillo pasture. The route passes through cherry orchards, oak woods, and various mountain streams such as the Calvarrasa and Beceda gorges, following old rural paths. Its main destination is the cave-shelter associated with the Carlist guerrilla fighter Santiago León, who used this spot as a hideout in the 19th century. The trail offers varied scenery and combines natural and historical interest.

General observations

Sendero SL-CC 13 señalizado con verde y blanco. Sale desde Tornavacas junto a la carretera nacional, remontando la Garganta de la Calvarrasa y la Garganta de Beceda por cerezales y robledal, hasta la cueva que dio refugio al último guerrillero carlista Santiago León (s.XIX). Longitud de ida: 7,3 km (14,6 km total).
