Natural area located at more than 1,100 meters above sea level near the Puerto de Honduras mountain pass, in a quiet and less frequented part of the Jerte Valley. The landscape combines mountain meadows, open oak woodlands, shrublands and rocky formations that provide excellent conditions for wildlife and bird observation. Species commonly observed include forest birds such as jays, finches, long-tailed tits, great tits, blue tits, warblers and treecreepers. Birds of prey such as griffon vultures can be seen throughout the year, while short-toed eagles, booted eagles, black kites and occasionally honey buzzards appear during spring and summer. In autumn and winter species such as black redstart, robin and dunnock are more common.

Access is via the Puerto de Honduras road that connects Cabezuela del Valle with Hervás, taking a signposted turnoff towards the Riscos de Cabeza Merina area. From this point, continue along a mountain track or path to the vicinity of the viewpoint and rocky areas, where the final stretch is completed on foot.
The best time to visit the area and observe birds of prey and forest species is during spring and summer, when breeding activity is at its peak and good weather makes staying in the high mountains more comfortable. Autumn and winter can also be interesting for observing wintering species, although weather conditions may be more adverse and require proper preparation.

Bring binoculars, warm clothing, and mountain footwear, as well as water and some food, since this is a high-mountain area without services. It is advisable to respect wildlife by keeping noise to a minimum, staying on marked paths, and checking the weather forecast in advance, especially in winter or on windy days.
Access includes stretches of track and mountain paths with slopes and uneven surfaces, so it is not recommended for people with reduced mobility or for unsuitable vehicles. In conditions of fog, rain, or snow, orientation and driving along the mountain road can be hazardous, so extra caution is required and, if necessary, the visit should be postponed.
