Because of the steep terrain on which the village of Barrado is located, the Avenida de Extremadura that borders the town to the south and west acts as a natural viewpoint. From here visitors can enjoy wide views over the region of La Vera, the Campo Arañuelo area and the dehesa landscapes surrounding Monfragüe.

Upon arriving in Barrado from Cabrero or Casas del Castañar, continue along the access road, which becomes Avenida de Extremadura as it skirts the town. On the right-hand side of the avenue there is a parking area next to a railing; from there, visitors can walk along the stretch that functions as the Fernedas viewpoint.
The viewpoint can be visited at any time of the year, being especially attractive on clear days that allow a sharp view of distant mountain ranges and dehesas. Spring and autumn sunsets are particularly recommended to enjoy the light and colors of the landscape.

It is recommended to park in the designated area and walk along the promenade at a relaxed pace, bringing a windproof jacket on cold or windy days. It is a good spot for panoramic photography and can be combined with a visit to Barrado’s town center and other nearby viewpoints in the Jerte Valley.
Although access is very easy, attention should be paid to traffic when maneuvering to park along the avenue, especially on busier days. On rainy, windy, or foggy days, visibility may be reduced and the pavement can be slippery, so it is advisable to walk carefully along the railing.
