Garganta de Marta is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Jerte Valley, located near the village of Valdastillas. This mountain stream, a tributary of the Jerte River, forms a striking waterfall surrounded by lush riverside vegetation, including alder trees, ferns and terraced cherry orchards. A metal footbridge crosses just above the waterfall, allowing visitors to enjoy a dramatic view of the gorge and the falling water. Nearby stands the old Lagar del Tío Alicio, a traditional olive oil mill that operated between 1900 and 1981 and was later restored as a small ethnographic museum. The site can be reached by a short walk from the road connecting Valdastillas and Cabrero, making it one of the most accessible and frequently visited natural attractions in the area.

From Valdastillas, take the road towards Cabrero and, after approximately 1 km, follow a signposted path that descends through riverside vegetation towards the gorge. The trail passes by the former Tío Alicio oil press and continues to the metal footbridge located directly above the waterfall, which can be reached after a short walk from the roadside.
It is especially recommended to visit in autumn, winter, and spring, when the water flow is higher and the waterfall is at its most impressive, surrounded by lush vegetation. In summer, the flow usually decreases and temperatures are higher, although it remains a pleasant spot for a short walk early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

It is advisable to wear comfortable footwear with good grip, as parts of the path may be damp, and to take extra care when crossing the footbridge, especially for those sensitive to heights. The visit can be complemented with a walk around Valdastillas and nearby natural spots such as the Caozo Gorge.
After rainfall, the path and the footbridge can become slippery, so caution is required and visitors should avoid leaning too far over the edges of the gorge. The access is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or strollers, and children should be closely supervised near the footbridge and waterfall.
