The Sayales Factory in Navaconcejo is a historic industrial building constructed in 1625 for the production of sayales, a coarse fabric traditionally used to make Franciscan monks’ habits. The building features Renaissance-style architecture with simple and functional design elements. One of its most distinctive features is the series of classical arches located on the rear façade, along with stone walls and modest window openings typical of early industrial structures. Although the original machinery has not been preserved, the building retains significant historical and architectural value. Today it has been restored and repurposed as the town’s Cultural Center, hosting a library, exhibitions and cultural activities.

The Sayales Factory is located in the urban center of Navaconcejo, very close to the main square and the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. From the N-110 road, access the town center by following signs toward the historic quarter; once at the square and the church, the former factory building, now the Cultural Center, is located just a short walking distance along the main streets.
It can be visited throughout the year, depending on the opening hours of the Cultural Center and its cultural program. Spring and autumn are especially pleasant times to combine the visit to the building with a walk through the historic center and along the banks of the Jerte River.

As a historic building adapted to new uses, some interior areas may include level changes, steps, or narrow passageways, so caution is advised when moving around inside.
