The Hermitage of Cristo del Amparo is an eighteenth-century Baroque chapel located in the historic centre of Jerte. Built in masonry with granite ashlar blocks, it consists of a single nave covered by a barrel vault and a chancel crowned by a dome on pendentives. Inside, a Baroque altarpiece with Solomonic columns stands out, housing the image of Cristo del Amparo, a seventeenth-century sculpture associated with the Martínez Montañés school. Cristo del Amparo is the patron of the town and the focus of one of Jerte’s most important religious celebrations.

The hermitage is located on Calle del Puente, in the lower part of Jerte’s urban center, close to the river and the passage area toward the N-110. From the town center you can comfortably walk there by following the street that descends toward the bridge, whereas if you arrive by car you take the Jerte exit from the N-110 and continue along the local streets toward the hermitage, where it is possible to park nearby before approaching the chapel on foot.
The hermitage can be visited throughout the year, observing the worship schedules and the openings for celebrations and religious services. The most interesting times usually coincide with the festivals in honor of Cristo del Amparo and with other religious events on the local calendar, when processions and special celebrations are organized.

The access streets have narrow stretches and some slope, so it is advisable to drive with caution if arriving by car and to use the designated parking areas before reaching the hermitage. On days of rain or ice, both the road surface and the surroundings of the temple can become slippery, so it is recommended to exercise extra care when walking.
