The Hermitage of Saint Philip and Saint James is a small Baroque-style chapel built in the 18th century and located on a hill overlooking the town of Cabezuela del Valle. Constructed with simple granite masonry, the building stands out mainly for its elevated position above the village. From its surroundings visitors can enjoy wide panoramic views of the Jerte Valley, the Jerte River and the surrounding mountain ranges. Because of its location, the hermitage also functions as a natural viewpoint and is often included in walking routes through the historic center and the old Jewish quarter of the town.

It is accessed from the center of Cabezuela del Valle, ascending approximately 500 meters along steep streets such as Calle San Felipe until reaching the hermitage esplanade. It is also possible to arrive by car via local roads that go up the hill, although it is recommended to do so with caution due to the narrowness and one-way direction of some streets, and to park in the area provided next to the hermitage.
The hermitage and its viewpoint can be visited throughout the year, with spring—coinciding with the cherry blossoms—and autumn—because of the colorful landscape—being especially recommended. The hours near sunrise or sunset offer the best lighting conditions to enjoy the views and take photographs.

Wear comfortable footwear to handle the slopes of the old town and bring water and sun protection on sunny days, since the viewpoint area is exposed. It is advisable to check access to the interior of the hermitage, as it is sometimes closed and the visit focuses on the exterior and the views.
The ascent includes stretches of steep and narrow streets, so if you choose to drive up you should go slowly and obey one-way signs. On days of rain, fog, or intense heat, the effort of walking up can be more demanding and the pavement may be slippery, so it is recommended to assess conditions and exercise extra caution.
