Wetland regulated by the Plasencia Dam located in the transition zone between holm oaks, cork oaks and Pyrenean oaks in the Jerte Valley. This natural area is an important migratory corridor between the Duero plateau and northern Europe towards Extremadura, making it an excellent place for birdwatching, including black stork, herons, black kites, buzzards, short-toed eagle, osprey, cranes and geese.

Access is via rural tracks and paths leading from the N-110 road and from the surroundings of Casas del Castañar towards the reservoir tail, where the regulated Jerte River meets slopes covered with holm oaks and oak woodlands. Due to the sensitivity of the area and the presence of private land, it is advisable to seek prior information from local accommodations or tourist offices regarding the best observation points and permitted access routes.
The best time for birdwatching at the reservoir tail is between August and October, coinciding with the autumn migration period, when black storks, waders, gulls and other aquatic species gather. Spring also offers good opportunities to observe birds of prey and other species associated with aquatic and forest environments.
