Access is on foot from Casas del Castañar, following the Chestnut Route or the marked trail that starts from the upper part of the village near the sports area. The path continues along paved tracks and dirt trails through the chestnut forest, with a gentle ascent between farmland and chestnut trees until reaching the Escondelobos Chestnut information panel and, shortly after, the first and second Escondelobo chestnut trees along the path.
Autumn is the most recommended season to visit the Escondelobo Chestnut Tree, when the forest displays a wide range of golden and ochre tones and the ground is covered with leaves and chestnut husks. Spring also offers a very pleasant environment, while in summer it is advisable to avoid the central hours of the day, and in winter visitors should consider cold temperatures and the possible presence of mud.

It is recommended to complete the route with appropriate hiking footwear, seasonal clothing, and sufficient water, taking time near the trees to observe their structure without stepping on the roots or compacting the surrounding soil. Visitors should follow only marked trails, respect signage, and take the opportunity to visit other nearby singular trees such as the chestnuts of Fuente de las Escobanchas or Los Realengos.
The trails in the chestnut forest may include muddy areas, wet leaves, and exposed roots that increase the risk of slipping or tripping, especially after rainfall. Although the route is suitable for families accustomed to walking, it is not advisable to approach hollow sections of the trunk too closely or to climb on the branches, both due to the risk of falling and the negative impact on such an ancient specimen.
