The so-called House of the Inquisition is a historic mansion located on Calle Real, also known as Calle Larga, one of the main streets of the old town of Navaconcejo running parallel to the Jerte River. The building features a stone façade with a carved coat of arms above the balcony and architectural elements typical of traditional houses in the Jerte Valley, including timber framing and projecting wooden galleries. The house dates from the 16th–17th centuries. Although there is no documented evidence that the Spanish Inquisition operated in the building, local legends associate it with underground tunnels and stories linked to the nearby Sayales Factory, forming part of the oral heritage of the town.

The House of the Inquisition is located on Calle Real or Calle Larga in Navaconcejo, the main street of the old town that runs through the village parallel to the Jerte River. From the N-110 road that crosses Navaconcejo you can reach the town center by following the signs to the historic quarter and the parish church; once in the old part, simply walk along Calle Real to find the manor house, which stands out for its ashlar stone façade and its coat of arms.
It can be visited year-round as part of a walk through the historic center of Navaconcejo, adapting the visit to the valley’s weather conditions. Spring and autumn are especially pleasant for strolling along Calle Real and observing the traditional architecture beside the Jerte River.

It is recommended to visit the Casa de la Inquisición as part of a walking tour along Calle Real and the old town, combining the observation of this noble residence with other timber-framed houses and the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. Respecting private property is advisable: view the façade from the public street without attempting to access the interior, and use the visit as an opportunity to also see the nearby Fábrica de Sayales and the “callejinas” that lead to the river.
Since it is located on a narrow street with local traffic, it is preferable to park in designated areas at the entrance to the town and walk along Calle Real to avoid circulation problems. On rainy days the pavement can be slippery, so it is advisable to wear appropriate footwear and walk with caution.
