Portugal Street forms part of the historic centre of El Torno and is one of the most representative areas of its traditional architecture. The street is narrow and steep, lined with timber-framed houses built with wood and stone and featuring characteristic overhanging balconies known as “solanas”. These balconies were traditionally used for drying linen and agricultural products. The area preserves the historic character of the village and offers attractive views over the Jerte Valley and its terraced cherry orchards.

The neighborhood is located within the historic center of El Torno, forming part of the network of streets that climb up from the central area of the village. It is explored on foot, accessing from the main square and streets and then entering the narrow alleys that lead to the area known as Barrio del Portugal, identified in local toponymy.
It can be visited throughout the year as part of a walk around the historic center of El Torno, being especially pleasant in spring and autumn due to the mild climate and the colors of the surrounding cherry and chestnut groves.
